Hey y’all! Trying out a new thread feature on my blog. Every Monday from today until Dec 29, 2020, I’ll be posting a question inspired by the practice of dreaming. I’d love to see your answers. I'll be online between 7am PT - 7:45am PT, so if you post one I'll answer pretty quickly. 😁 Let's be in conversation.
If you're seeing this and it's after 7:45am PT on Monday, October 19, 2020, please still leave an answer. I'd love to know what's in your view right now.
Our dreams can often be inspired by our view. Our view also sometimes limits our dreams. Often, we can't change what is in our view. Noticing what's there right now helps us know what might inspire or limit and make choices about how we want to approach our views.
And it may even unlock dreams you didn't know were possible.
So what's in you're view right now?
And join me next Monday for a new Moon Daydream question.
Right now, I am looking at this -- http://www.youthmediareporter.org/2017/04/20/the-big-bang-of-collective-action/ -- and reflecting on its prescient relevancy today. It was written in end of 2016 to beginning 2017, and published as part of my work with The Alliance Youth Media Network. There is one section called, "The Civic Body". I wrote, "It feels as if the civic body caught the flu, and each organ, muscle, and nerve aches. What’s needed is a bit of rest, a moment of stillness, anything other the constant assault. It is beyond fatigued making all wonder: Will it just give out?" Really really struck by this.
My view is internal. All I can see is people acting and speaking like nothing is going on in their communities, in local and national politics, the pandemic, fires, murders of black and brown bodies. Business as usual. Zoom calls, deadlines, spending money. One side of the coin- what are we to do? Not attend to the business of the day? The other side- WHAT ARE WE DOING???
A woman says on a call today, "I haven't slept in four nights. I don't know why - I'm not really anxious about anything." I point out the madness of our collective experience. Perhaps that might be impacting her ability to sleep.
Or think, or move, or relate, or...
My view right now is limited. Stop, just let's stop and have a look around.
